Karen, I've loved this series so much. I've spent the past two decades with people telling me to write more, that they would love to see me write a book. But I've never known *how*. I've recently started a small little writing project and this series gives me so much hope for how God can guide and use our gifts as writers in this wild world. Thank you! (And I cannot wait for your Herbert series...)
Oh wow, what a great interview! Thank you for this Christy (and Karen). I appreciated all the particular details about hybrid publishing; when I coach people about self-publishing I annoyingly emphasize how important it is to research this option.
I'm so glad you had a positive publishing experience, Christy. Credo sounds like a great option.
I'm also glad to read about your book; my husband were part of the Jesus Movement in the 70's and participated in a community that was unhealthy for us both. It took many, many years for God to reveal the truth to us and redeem the experience, one that He is still healing.
Your podcast and book are intriguing me--so glad to 'meet' you!
Religious Rebels sounds like it must be just the book to help a friend of mine who has similar aspects in her upbringing that she continues to struggle with. Appreciate this interview in all its aspects. And another 'Yay!' for George Herbert.
Thank you for doing this series, Karen. And Christy, I’m so glad you found the publishing path for you! As someone who grew up IBLP adjacent, it’s wonderful that people can find your voice, even if it’s not in the “traditional” way.
Thank you for this interview Karen! Christy, thank YOU for sharing your story and the journey of publishing, writing and finding contentment in Jesus amidst it all! This whole series on Publishing and Platform has been very encouraging Karen!
Christy, there is so much great information in this post. You and I were in the same independent church denomination. I'm writing about our 20 years in that church where the pastor had spouses (mine) dating other spouses and he went to jail for sexuslly assaulting women in the church. The wreckage continues to this day. I'm writing about this-not on substack yet-but a memoir and it's taken time. But I agree. The book I'm writing now is not the book I started then. It's painful to write. Your encounter with the woman at your book signing is why we do this! So good! I'm intrigued by your information on hybrid publishers. Will definitely be looking into this! Best wishes on your book's journey into the hearts of those that need to read it!
Karen, I adore you. And even more so since I've seen this series. Thank you for helping all us struggling authors give birth like a true mid-wife! 🩷

I’m so glad you have found the series helpful! It just kind of developed itself spontaneously into an idea. :)
Christy, thank you for sharing. I did not know about this type of publishing. I am thankful for your work.
Karen, I’m really looking forward to returning to “class.”
You are so welcome! I was honored to be asked to share. 😁

So glad you two are connected!
So glad to meet you too!

Yay! :)
Christy, I think you and I were in ATI at about the same time. I think what you are doing is so helpful.
Karen, looking forward to learning more about Herbert.
Thanks for reading!

Thank you for reading along and joining in, Tabitha!

Rosemary, I’m so sorry for what you endured. I am praying for you now, and specifically that your writing helps you heal.
Thank you for the kind words and for reading along here. It means the world.
I am so sorry for what you’ve experienced and so glad that you are able to write about it and help others with your story.
Christy, did you do your own cover art? It's very striking.
I did not. I got a huge say in it, but it was done by professionals with Credo. 😊
Thanks for sharing my writing journey, Karen! 😁
