This is so good, Karen. When my mother was diagnosed with AML and it became clear that my sister would need help caring for her, I took a leave of absence and we both shared in mom's care so that, to the extent possible, she could stay home. But just as important was the desire we both had to be able to serve our mom and enjoy those last months with her, in gratitude to God for her life and love. As you were able to do the same with your mom, I'm sure you will come to see those very hard days as a precious gift, even as you grieve her absence. God heals our hearts.

Thank you, Charlie. My brother also took time off to come be with her while I had to travel. Other family members also came and helped from all over the country. One of the greatest blessings in all this was seeing how the family came together.

« A few short, eternal weeks » perfectly captures our experience earlier this year. With you in mourning our mothers. They are Home at last, together. They will be fast friends by now. My mom was likely on the welcoming committee, if such exists. 🫂❤️‍🩹🙏🏻

What a beautiful reminder that life is sacred not only in its beginnings but also at its end. I shared this with a few people who are walking through similar moments right now—it’s truly a blessing to have such poignant and timely words when they’re needed most. Thank you for your openness and for giving us this gift. Praying for your family as you continue to walk in His healing and grace.

God bless you Karen. It is so hard to say goodbye to our parents even when we know their time here was done and we will see them again. The words of Jesus are precious but it’s His tears at the tomb of His friend that reach us. I love you sweet friend.
